Just go follow phaos really, it's much nicer than this shit.
I don’t even know what to SAY when Baillieu starts in on this shit. ARMED GUARDS?! I mean, honestly! What do people think this city is like? Melbourne isn’t some giant South Central LA/Detroit in the 80s hybrid. GODDAMNIT you fucking fear mongering cunt.
‘It is expected that only the first 50 of the total 940 PSOs will be on the network by the end of the year.
WHAT! How long are ya’ll expecting to stay? And wait a second, major upgrades to 20 stations just got scrapped. You know what seems better? Stations with lights that work, lines that run on time and HELPFUL customer service. Cunts with guns uhhh not so much. Culture of fear, douche bag.
“Armed guards with semi-automatic guns on every train station platform”
I don’t really have much to add since Erin has already done a pretty good job of pointing out the ridiculousness of this whole thing, but Jesus Christ… how did we even get to this point? Where an idea like this is being seriously put forward by the Premier of our state? Semi-automatic guns… fuck. me.
What the actual fuck. This is so ridiculous that I researched it online before I reblogged, just to make sure that it was real. Apparently it is. I don’t know about you, but I am going to feel much less safe at the station with some gun-toting security guard staring me down. This is only going to lead to smartarsed kids pushing the limits of what they can do in front of the guards and some teenager is going to end up being shot. Bailleu is a goddamned moron. My already low opinion of him has plummeted even further.
All of Victoria’s police were going to be issued with semi-auto handguns in 2012, so it’s not exclusive to train stations. I guess they’re pushing it forward. Also, South Australian forces have had them for a few years now.
That’s different though from having armed guards with semi-auto’s at EVERY FUCKING STATION, police in general being issued with them is nowhere near as controversial. It’s a bloody stupid idea in my opinion, and at no point seems to address or attempt to solve any real problems.
And of course the best way to encourage a culture of safety is the over hanging worry of people getting shot down on your way to work. And not purely by police, Baillieu have you heard of a thing called a war of attrition? You should read up on it.
This is fucking mad. What the person at the top said - We could either spend thousands or millions of dollars putting fucking guns in every station OR ACTUALLY TRY TO IMPROVE THE FACILITIES.
